English Language Olympiad "Future of the Caucasus"-2011

For two days running there was held an English Language Olympiad in Khasavyurt. The participants were the students of 9-11 Grades from all the republics of the Northern Caucasus.  More than 500 students from different mountainous and city schools from Chechnya, Ingushetia, Kabardino- Balkaria, North Ossetia and Stavropol region took part in the first stage – doing the tasks at home.  The best students came to Khasavyurt. There were 45 of them.

While the students were doing their tasks I held a two hours workshop for the teachers of English.  We spoke about on-line education, use of computer technologies, different aspects of teaching English, Unifies State Exam, etc.

In the afternoon there was organized a video-conference with Mr. Michael Bailey, an educator from Belfast Areal School, Maine, U.S.A. The students asked him and his students a lot of questions about American life, history, traditions, culture. They also recited some poems by the famous American hoet Longfellow, who was from Maine.

My   student Shavkhalova Elina became the First Prize winner within the students of the 11-th Grade.
